Adult Matric
About this course
Adult Matric (Amended Senior Certificate – ASC)
Course Overview
The Adult Matric programme, officially known as the Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), is a qualification designed for adults who want to obtain a Grade 12 (matric) certificate but are past the traditional school-going age. It provides a second chance to earn a school-leaving qualification that can open doors to further studies or better career opportunities.
The ASC is a valid qualification issued by Umalusi and is considered equivalent to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) for most purposes. It can be used to apply for admission to universities, colleges, or for employment opportunities, and may qualify candidates for University endorsement (Bachelor's degree, Diploma, or Higher Certificate programmes).
The curriculum follows the CAPS Grade 12 syllabus with no School-Based Assessment (SBA) — your final mark is based 100% on the final examination. You must offer six subjects, including one Home Language, one First Additional Language, and three electives (e.g., Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Life Sciences, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, Physical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences).
Course Fee: R350 per month — covers all subjects.
